90% of the questions we receive are covered in the following FAQ's. Please read them carefully. If your question is not answered please continue to the contact form by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

Q. I'm sure that a person has a criminal record in a certain county, yet it didn't appear in my search results. Why?

A. Not all states make their criminal records available for instant search. Some states further limit access to certain counties or jurisdictions. Before you order an instant search, you must check IntegraScan's coverage page to make sure that your area of interest will be searched. We can not refund money for records that were not found due to coverage issues. IntegraScan clearly publishes our coverage. Furthermore you must agree that you have read our coverage before you can order. However if there is a record that should be included in our coverage and it is missing we will gladly refund your money for that search.

Q. There's an error in my criminal record. Can IntegraScan correct it?

A. No. IntegraScan receives records from various government and private sources, such as credit bureaus and state repositories. Any errors must be corrected by the originating agency.

Q. How can I correct errors in my criminal record?

A. Contact the court in which the record was originally filed. Policies regarding records correction vary from state to state.

Q. How can I clear my criminal record?

A. Contact your state's repository of criminal records . Your local police station would be the best place to ask about the procedures for your specific state. It may also be wise to consult with an attorney specializing in criminal law, or look for rehabilitation agencies in your area that offer help with criminal records .

Depending upon your situation, you may be able to have your criminal records expunged or sealed. Expunged records are completely removed from your criminal record; sealed records remain on your record, but are not reported.

Q. I've had my criminal record expunged or sealed, but I still saw it in a recent IntegraScan search. Why?

A. Once a criminal record becomes part of IntegraScan's database, it remains there unless IntegraScan is ordered by a court to suppress it. To remove a record from our files, you must obtain an order from a Judge in the Jurisdictional Court to have the information suppressed. Please be aware that many companies, besides Integra Scan, also store this data and will have to be contacted separately to ensure that the record no longer appears.

Q. Some of my personal information is being shown in the initial search results page (“Search for records on ...”). Can I remove this information from the listings?

A. Integra Scan obtains information from a variety of public sources, such as government records and credit bureaus. These records are public knowledge which IntegraScan is entitled by law to display as part of its search services.

Q. The initial search results page lists several addresses for my subject. Will my criminal record search be limited to these addresses?

A. The addresses are displayed only to help you select the correct subject for a criminal records search. The actual search will use only the subject's name, and not the addresses.

Q. Does IntegraScan cover the entire United States ?

A. Not all states offer online access to their criminal records, so IntegraScan's coverage is limited to those states and jurisdictions that provide access. Furthermore, some states limit what types of records they provide. Please see the IntegraScan coverage page before placing an order.

Q. My search results seem to include records for more than one person with the same name. Is this normal?

A. The amount of records in a result will depend on how specific the search terms are. For many common first and last names, there may be dozens of different people in the records. More specific search terms, such as a middle initial or Social Security number, will result in a more targeted search.

Q. I was expecting to see a record of a bankruptcy/marriage/divorce in my subject's records, but it wasn't there. Why?

A. Not all states provide these types of records. Please see the Background Checks Coverage section of the IntegraScan coverage page for details.

Q. Are IntegraScan's results guaranteed?

A. We're so confident that our system and records are the best we're willing to offer a money back guarantee. Here's how it works: If there is a criminal record that should have been returned based upon our coverage, and it is not, we'll refund your money back for that criminal record search.

The customer must agree to the Coverage as listed in the terms of use agreement and acknowledge the said agreement prior to making a Purchase by clicking a "Box" next to the posted terms of use agreement found on the Integra Scan Order Form. In the event the Customer challenges a Report Result and can prove that a charge exists in a covered jurisdiction that is published on our coverage page, Integra Scan will refund the purchase in Full. WE WILL NOT refund purchases under the "Money Back Guarantee" in the event that a record is:

  • not located due to the fact that it is not in our published coverage
  • expunged by a judge
  • a Juvenile Record or an arrest record that did not result in a court action
